TIMeSCAPES is a long-term artistic research and production platform initiated by 5 cultural organizations: Science Communications Research (A), BADco. (HR), Maska (SI), Walking Theory (RS) and Film-protufilm (HR). It investigates the nature and time structure of  ”cultural knowledge” and ways how the Humanities and the Arts can find enough time to keep up the reflexivity of ”cultural knowledge” by the slowing down effects of theory.

The double objective is to artistically reflect the transversal issue of time that cuts across economy, society and art: (1) the structure of working time, temporal experiences in technologies and performative dramaturgies of time. (2) The question of what could be models and institutions of artistic research, given the constraints of time, money and mobility that artists face?

The project is co-financed by the EU-culture program and starts in June 2012. It will provide residencies, publications, performances and an experimental conference in Vienna which will be co-hosted by the Tanzquartier (A).

• TIMeSCAPES ist ein unabhängiges, von der Stadt Wien nicht gefördertes, Projekt.

• Es versammelt internationale Partner aus fünf Ländern zum Austausch, zur Vernetzung und zur Kooperation und treibt die internationale Vernetzung der Wiener Szene voran.

• Wichtige Teile des Projekts finden in Wien statt, so die experimentelle Konferenz Time of Speculation, Performances der Partner, Workshops und Vernetzungstreffen.

• Eine Vielzahl weiterer Aktivitäten findet in den Partnerstädten statt.

• Das Projekt bindet eine Reihe von AkteurInnen aus Kunst- und Kulturwissenschaften der Wiener Szene ein.

Science Communications Research hat seinen Sitz in Wien.


Biografie/Selbstdarstellung

Science Communications Research, seit 2007 freie Kultur- und Forschungsprojekte an der Schnittstelle von Geisteswissenschaften und Kunst u. a. Science with all Senses (zu Wissen und Geschlecht im Museum), Doing Kinship (partizipative Ausstellung zu Familienbildern) und The Art of Knowing (Fellowship-Programm).

Dr. Karin Harrasser, dzt. Vertretung der Prof. Techniktheorie und -geschichte an der HBK Braunschweig; seit 2009 wiss. Mitarbeiterin an der Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln, Kultur- und Medienwissenschaften. Forschungs- und Vermittlungsprojekte zu Wissenschaft, Kunst & Gesellschaft (kürzlich: Die Untoten.
